The East Cape
The most common questions about The East Cape are… Where is it? Is the East of what? Traditionally, The East Cape is known to be from the east end of Palo Escopito road in San Jose, to La Rivera in the north, making it the East Cape of the Baja.
The East Cape is more of a frame of mind than a fixed point on a map. When you speak with home owners in it, they speak of wide open spaces, pristine beaches, quiet, time to think and bumpy dirt roads.
The "feeling" of the East Cape is one of freedom… Freedom from traffic, freedom from hustle, freedom from convention. You can design a home of your own and no one will tell you what roof to use, what color to paint it, or how many square feet it needs to be. To many people, this kind of freedom is a "true luxury".
So, after all this freedom ....what do you do with your free time? How about Kayaking, Bird Watching, Scuba Diving, ATV Trail Riding, Kite Board Sailing, Surfing, Snorkeling, Off Road Motorcycle Riding, Sea Shell Collecting, Windsurfing, Boogie Boarding, Swimming, Beach Camping, Fly Fishing, Fossil Collecting, Beach Combing, Dog Walking and World Class Deep Sea Fishing… and that’s not counting all the cultural activities that take place in here.
Los Barriles, a famous little town on the East Cape, is a seaside region located 45 minutes north of the San Jose Del Cabo International Airport and only 90 minutes away from the world famous Cabo San Lucas. The sandy beaches and a clean beautiful sea set the ideal conditions for sport fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling. Local and international phone calls, fax and internet service are available in the area. Once a little fishermen village, Los Barriles has grown into a town with a lot of things to offer giving you the feeling of being far from civilization.
