Summer is ending with nice rain that has rejuvenated the mountains, creating beautiful green vistas everywhere! Fishing is also great: we have had a couple of tournaments and the prestigious Bisbee’s Black & Blue is coming to Los Cabos, October 22-26th. Another plus of this weather is the clear and warm waters which facilitate diving and snorkeling in Cabo Pulmo & La Ribera… but especially, this is a great time because it is Mango season!
One of the many things my husband and I have enjoyed ever since moving to La Ribera is the opportunity of having our own fruit and herb garden, year round there is something new and delicious sprouting in our backyard and well, What more can we say about these images? At our home we have twelve mango trees, with four different varieties and are delighted to share the fruit with friends, neighbors, and charities.
Mangos are popular for making ice cream, chutney, salsa, fruit bread, smoothies and the all-time favorite, Jam! Here is a photo of Mango jam, created by local friends here in La Ribera. Delicious!
There are great opportunities on the East Cape that are adequate for properties with a fruit & herb garden like ours, or several others to plant, grow and care for a more complete and dedicated organic garden. One of my favorites is the Santiago Property, which we pass by on our way to the waterfalls. It is a 2.5 acres land near the entrance to Santiago, with lots of palms and other trees. It is surrounded by road on three sides, has title insurance with electric and water services are nearby.
If my experience and my knowledge in the area can help you, I’d be more than happy to show you how you too can enjoy this piece of paradise.
