My how things have changed here in beautiful Cabo San Lucas. I came for the first time to visit in 1987 and fell in love with the place! Back then there weren’t many options for grocery shopping or any other kind of shopping for that matter. Along with the explosion in popularity of Cabo San Lucas as a prime vacation destination, our shopping options expanded. I will present several articles on shopping in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned!
If you are looking for organic items, don’t miss the Los Cabos Organic Market (Farmer’s Market) at Penny Lane Café at the back entrance to Pedregal. You can purchase everything from fresh fish to organic produce of all types, farm raised chicken and eggs, goat cheeses, natural dog and cat treats, flowers, and other handmade items. Have breakfast at the café, or just order a fresh vegetable juice, smoothie or fruit juice inside. Walmart, and Mega both offer organic produce, and Costco usually has a couple of organic items as well. Down on Marina Blvd, close to Romeo and Julieta Restaurant you will find the California Ranch Market which carries many options including organic milk, gluten free items, organic packaged cold cuts, meat, poultry and pork products. The Santa Carmela Market located just this side of the turnaround at Punta Ballena caters to the foreign market and offers many specialty food and organic items.

Costco, Mega, Walmart, Chedraui, Sam’s Club and City Club are all huge stores with a wide variety of local and imported food items as well as beer and wine. Mega is the newest store, and has generated quite a bit of excitement in town. I admit I took a photo and posted on Facebook the first time I went because it was so exciting! There are a couple of good options for wine and liquor including La Europea next to Walmart, which has a great wine selection and liquor at very reasonable prices. Vinoteca is located close to Home Depot just out of town and offers a many local and imported wines. Don’t be afraid to venture into new areas to patronize the small, family owned businesses as well.
