Cabo Style Birthday Celebration!
Birthdays are a great reason to celebrate. This year, I turned fifty so I decided to gather all my closest friends and family that could get away and celebrate “Cabo style”. Instead of a big party, or a trip I wanted to share this place I love and all of my favorite things with the people most important to me.
My favorite place to stay in town- Los Milagros Hotel is located in a prime, downtown location so no rental cars needed. While steps from the action, it is a quiet and charming hotel, which I bought out for the week. All my out of town guests and family stayed there, and everyone raved about the hotel, the garden for dining and hanging out, the beautiful courtyard and pool all within walking distance to everything. Check out their website at: www.losmilagros.com.mx We had tamales one night for dinner and had Paisa’s tacos cater a dinner as well one night.
My favorite places to eat– I am a bit of a foodie so it was important to share some of my favorites.
Mama’s– if you enjoy Eggs Benedict, they have the best in town as far as I am concerned. Located on Hidalgo close to the square in downtown Cabo. It is expensive, but you can’t beat the eggs benny! I have been eating there for 25 years now! We enjoyed a great family breakfast there. Check them out at: http://mamasroyalcafeloscabos.com/
Taqueria El Paisa– Another long time family-owned favorite featuring carne asada tacos, and the most heavenly loaded baked potatoes. They cook everything over an open, mesquite grill (it can be smoky inside!). They hand-make their corn tortillas right there, offer grilled onions, beans, and tacos al pastor. Try the flan if they have it as it is made by one of the family members. Located on the corner of Alikan and Vicario streets.
Nick San– Hard to find words to describe how amazing the food is at Nick San. We had a group of about 30, with a special menu including a special drinks menu. Even the locals who have been there before many times were impressed with the special items for the menu that owner and chef, Angel had prepared for us. Check them out at: http://www.nicksan.com/ I have been a huge fan and patron from the day they opened and it is my favorite restaurant anywhere!
Santa Fe Café– Located in the heart of Todos Santos on the main square, the Santa Fe Café is an amazing Italian restaurant owned by a husband and wife team since they opened. They are closed Tuesdays, and close for September and October according to their website. (http://cafesantafetodossantos.com/). The setting is charming, and the food is just amazing. I love the fritto misto and spinach ravioli with butter and sage sauce.
I reserved the Tropicat for a private whale-watching cruise. It is a beautiful catamaran and they do wine and jazz sunset cruises and it is available for private charter as well. Check out their website at: http://tropicatcabo.com/
Four wheeling in the desert- I always wanted to drive a dune buggy or the equivalent, and have ridden ATVs in the past. We booked with Cactus ATV Tours, and ended up with a private tour with Axel, which couldn’t have been more fun! They have many options, so have fun and I would recommend buying the insurance policies for all of your vehicles to save any unexpected costs (one of our buggies flipped due to driver error). Check out their options at: http://cactusatvtours.com/
Have fun exploring, be safe, and let me know if you have any questions/comments. I am happy to share my love and knowledge of the area, and even happier to help you find your piece of paradise here in Cabo!
