Interview with Cabo’s real estate professional Marilu Madrid
Over the past years, along with the growth of the city, so did the experience and market knowledge of Marilu Madrid. With a strong character, pleasant laughter and very driven, her ease of speech and vision are key elements when it comes to promoting and selling real estate. Here is a brief interview with this local entrepreneur.
How did you start and how long have you been working in real estate?
I’ve been working for 17 years in real estate and started thanks to the opportunity that the Diaz Rivera family gave me to be part of their sales team. At that time we only sold properties in Pedregal, and when we joined the Coldwell Banker Family, our market expanded, grew exponentially and I was able to get specialized training and grow even more thanks to the courses and seminars which constantly are provided to us.
In addition to being a sales advisor at Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas, you also have properties there. Can you share with us more about the lifestyle in the community?
The lifestyle is relaxed, like you were always on vacation. The combination of elements such as the diverse and exquisite architecture, the beautiful sunsets, an impregnated nature within each corner of the community and fresh air you breathe, makes everything look like a work of art, as if each property here were strategically placed for our visual delight.
Although we are in the desert, we are surrounded with the incredible blue of the Sea of Cortes and the Pacific Ocean, making a meeting, dinner or even a glass of wine on the terrace of my house a magnificent environment. And of all this without taking into account the people who live here that somehow are always there to help you.
What do you think of the opportunity where many foreigners invest in Los Cabos by buying a property and use it only for a brief period throughout the year?
I consider it a very good investment because if you reside abroad or in another state, you can combine using it to relax and enjoy a great vacation or weekend with your loved ones, while you also have the option to offer it as a rental property. Not only will you enjoy your investment, but you can also profit from it. Remember that real estate is one of the few assets that gains value overtime.
We are aware of your entrepreneurial spirit, in your opinion, do you think it is easy to start a business in Los Cabos?
It is never easy no matter where you are, however, the geographical location of the destination opens many areas of opportunity because of the high demand for quality products and services, in addition to that, Los Cabos is a relatively young city with great growing potential and a market of foreign and domestic nationality always willing to purchase different goods and quality services.
How do you enjoy your free time?
I consider myself a person who likes to look and feel good; I start every morning exercising and eating right. But most importantly, I enjoy traveling all around the world! I think that those simple activities enrich the soul and spirit like no other way can.
