Todos Santos Real Estate & News (Mar 10th, 2011)
So What’s New in Todos Santos?
The month of February was packed with all kinds of annual events: starting with the Todos Santos 5K Walk/Run, followed by The 14th Todos Santos Art Festival, The 8th Fur Ball, and the 17th Historic Home Tour. The month of March (4-7) started off with the Todos Santos Film Festival opening to a sold out crowd with an appearance by actor and movie director Diego Luna. Luna is known for his acting roles in notable movies such as Milk (2008), The Terminal (2004), Frida (2002) and Y Tu Mamá También (2001). The film festival offers a selection of the best and most recent fiction, documentary, and short films from Latin America. The festival also promotes cinematographic education through its “Youth In Video Program,” which hosts photography and video workshops teaching the art and craft of image and movie making to children and teenagers. If you’d like to learn more, make a donation or become a sponsor to the Youth In Video Program, contact the founding directors Sylvia and Leonardo Perel at http://www.todossantoscinefest.com
Although this Festival is over, it’s not too late to participate by making a silent bid at the Todos Santos Film Festival Silent Auction (March 1-24) for Michael Cope’s gorgeous painting “Early Morning” (oil on canvas 55″ x 40″). The minimum bid is $1500 USD and proceeds benefit the Youth In Video Program, the painting’s on display at the Galeria de Todos Santos. Another good reason to visit us in Todos Santos!
So What’s New in the Real Estate Market.
We also have a new listing inspired by world-renowned Iranian-American architect Nader Kahlili: Big Sur Baja; these hand crafted Art Domes are a prime example of Earth and Ceramic Architecture. Built with the freely available material of the earth, these five domes feature some of the latest Superadobe innovations and technologies available today. Located about half way between San Pedrito and Los Cerritos Surf breaks, perched on a hillside at El Gavilan–offers one of the most dramatic settings in all of Baja reminiscent of Northern California’s Big Sur coastline.
Based on middle eastern designs and eco friendly living, these Earth Domes are solar powered and absolutely beautiful inside and out. The interiors feature softly curved walls, beautiful high conical ceilings and many artistic touches. The buildings are energy efficient cool in summer and warm in winter, and probably the most environmentally friendly homes you’ll ever come across. The grounds are walled and very private with vast 360 degree views unmatched by any other property in the area and a must see to truly appreciate. It is currently offered at $499,000 USD
So that’s the latest from Todos … and by the way, on Sunday March 20 9-5 p.m. is the 2nd Annual Artist’s Studio Tour. Art aficionados will have the opportunity to get a behind the scenes glimpse of well-known and emerging Todos Santos artists.
¡Hasta la próxima!
